Denkyembour District Assembly Holds Budget Committee Meeting

On Thursday 25th November 2021, the Denkyembour District Assembly held a budget committee meeting at the District Assembly Conference Room. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the 2022 Annual Composite Budget and the Trial Balance for the assembly as at October 2021.

The chairman for the committee and District Coordinating Director for Denkyembour District Assembly; Alhaji Shamrock Abdulai Gafaru welcomed all members of the committee and stated the agenda for the day. He explained that it was very relevant for members of the committee to deliberate on issues concerning the annual composite budget and the trial balance of the assembly.

There was a presentation on the 2022 Annual Composite Budget to the members of the committee. He gave a presentation on the various areas being budgeted on in the 2022 composite budget. Major programs and projects being budgeted on include Management and Administration, Social Services such as Education, Youth and Sports, Environmental Health, Sanitation, Social Welfare and Community Services. There were budget allocations on Infrastructure Development, Economic Development which includes Agriculture, Trade, Disaster Prevention and Sanitation. Some major infrastructural projects being budgeted for include supply, fixing and maintenance of streetlights, drilling of mechanized boreholes, reshaping of roads and construction of culverts in selected communities among others.

There was also a presentation on the trial balance as at 31st October 2021. Internally Generated Fund (IGF) Revenue items included Rates, Property income, sale of goods and services fees, fines, penalties and forfeits and licenses. The assembly had realised a total of GHC 849,741.07 for IGF revenue as against GHC 789,127.50 approved budget estimate for the year, representing about 108%.  There were also discussions on how to improve revenue collection for the district.

The chairman for the committee expressed his gratitude to all members for taking time to attend the meeting. He also mentioned that he would need the help of all staff to improve the revenue of the assembly.
