On Wednesday 3rd November 2021, the Environmental Health Unit of the Denkyembour District Assembly in collaboration with some market women organised a clean up exercise at the Daily Market in Akwatia. The clean-up exercise saw opinion leaders, market queens and market women, some heads of departments of the assembly and unit committee members of the area.

It was very important to organise that clean up exercise in order to periodically undertake a thorough cleaning of the market. The market has been in existence for a very long time and has some very old structures which needs renovation.

The District Environmental Health Officer; Mr. Yaw Akwaa Lartey who led the clean up exercise stated that, his outfit would see to it that the clean up exercise is organised at least once every month. He also urged all sellers at the market who do not have certification to sell to as a matter of urgency undertake the compulsory health screening with the unit.
