Denkyembour District Assembly Confirms Hon. Seth Birikorang Ofosu as District Chief Executive

On Monday 11th October 2021, the Denkyembour District Assembly held an emergency assembly meeting at the District’s Assembly Hall to hold the election and confirmation of the President’s nominee as District Chief Executive. It was necessary for the meeting to be convened under the Local Government Act (Act 936) to hold an election for the confirmation or rejection of the President’s nominee as District Chief Executive.

The meeting commenced with a call to order and introduction of dignitaries of invited guest by the District Coordinating Director and Secretary to the Assembly; Alhaji Shamrock Abdulai Gafaru. He continued to give the opening remarks for the occasion. He welcomed all assembly members, the Eastern Regional Minister and his entourage, security officials, Nananom, the clergy, heads of departments and all other invited guests to the meeting and wished for a smooth meeting.

The Member of Parliament for Akwatia constituency; Honorable Henry Boakye Yiadom was called upon to give a solidarity message. He briefly welcomed all members present to the meeting and stated that, the presence of a District Chief Executive would bring developmental projects into the district. He promised to have a very cordial work relationship with the District Chief Executive and pleaded to all the assembly members to elect and confirm him unanimously.

The Chief of Akwatia; Osabarima Kofi Boateng III was also called upon to deliver his address. He first and foremost pleaded to the assembly members to vote for the President’s nominee in order for him to continue his good works. He also said that the assembly should strengthen their work relationship with each other so that the good image of Denkyembour District Assembly would be lifted higher.

Honorable Seth Ofosu Birikorang; the president’s nominee as District Chief Executive for Denkyembour District Assembly was introduced to the assembly by the District Coordinating Director and was followed by the election. Mrs. Francisca Sarfo, the District Electoral Commissioner explained the ground rules for the elections and the election commenced. After sorting and counting of the ballots, the nominee for DCE position gained 29 yes votes and 1 no vote representing 96.7% confirmation.

Honorable Seth Ofosu Birikorang, in his acceptance address, showed utmost appreciation to the President of Ghana, Eastern Regional Minister, the New Patriotic Party, all staff of Denkyembour District Assembly and all other people who supported him. He promised to use his position and second term to unite all members and promote the good works of the district. He promised to work assiduously with the opportunity given to him.

The Eastern Regional Minister; Honorable Seth Kwame Acheampong after his address, swore in Honorable Seth Ofosu Birikorang as the substantive District Chief Executive for Denkyembour District Assembly.
