Eastern Regional Directorate Holds Monitoring in Denkyembour District Assembly

On Monday, 8th June 2020 the monitoring team of the Eastern Regional Directorate, as part of their routine monitoring of MDAs in the Eastern Region, visited the Denkyembour District. The visit was to conduct monitoring of the assembly’s activities related to the fight of COVID-19.
The team, which consisted of Mrs Stella Panwun, Mr Shually Mubarak and Mr Nsiah, was accompanied by the District Coordinating Director; Mr Mark Addo, District Engineer; Mr Wonder Davor, District Finance Officer; Mr M K Dan Mabe, District Deputy Director; Mrs Doris Nyarko, District Information Officer; Mr Elvis Offei-Bekoe, District NADMO Director, Mr Stephen Adjei and Mr Samuel Birikorang of the Information Services Department to the Akwadum Market in Akwatia.
The team inspected the compulsory wearing of face masks and the social distancing protocols within the market. There was general compliance by all the market women which the team was very impressed about. The team also inspected the ongoing water project being constructed within the market. This project was to provide easy access to potable water within the market. This would help sellers and buyers who visit the market wash their hands regularly.
The team also the lorry park and supermarket adjacent the market and also observed that there was general compliance at the places, although there were a few non-compliant drivers who occasionally took their face masks off.
The monitoring team from the Regional Office commended the assembly for their efforts to maintain and enhance all precautionary measures at the market and lorry park. They, however, recommended that the Information Services Department and the NCCE intensify public education at the market.
