The Information Services Department of the Denkyembour District on Wednesday 17th June 2020 and Thursday 18th June 2020 undertook a two-day public sensitization on the National Identity Card Registration in the district. The resumption of registration of the Ghana Card by the National Identification Authority in the Eastern Region validated the mandate of the Information Services Department of the various districts to resume sensitization on the processes of registration.

The team of Information Officers, on Wednesday 17th June 2020, began the sensitization on the Apinamang stretch within the district. Using the mobile van, the team was able to undertake the education within communities such as Sakyikrom, Topremang, Timber Nkwanta, Agbodzi, Apampatia, Sika Ne Asem, Maame Agbo, Adenkyensu, Dwenase and other neighbouring communities. Markets places and lorry parks were our major targets for this sensitization exercise. The people were educated on the requirements needed to undertake a successful registration such as the birth certificate, the passport or two relatives guaranteeing your citizenship. The people were also educated on some other requirements that they need to know before registration such as their GPS addresses, their date of births and other parameters on the registration forms. The team also informed the people to go along with all other cards they possess to be uploaded on their Ghana card. People who did not receive their cards during the recent registration were also advised to go to their respective centres to check whether their cards were available.

Sensitization continued on Thursday, 18th June 2020 on the Akwatia stretch within the district. The stretch comprises communities such as Boadua, No 4, Anweaso, GCD, Camp, A1, Bamenase, Alafia No 1, Asubone and other neighbouring communities. Again, the people were educated on the registration requirements and some other things one should possess before going through the registration. The team also informed the people to go along with all other cards they possess to be uploaded on their Ghana card. The team completed the sensitization exercise at the Akwadum Market in Akwatia where people from almost all other communities come to trade.
