Denkyembour District Assembly Trains Staff on Report Writing and Minutes Writing

On Tuesday 11th January 2022, the Denkyembour District Assembly organized a one-day training program for staff of the assembly on Minutes writing, Report writing and on Local Government System and code of conduct of the local Government Service. The training was aimed at equipping staff to enhance productivity in their respective work schedules.

The District Coordinating Director; Alhaji Shamrock Abdulai Gafaru, in the opening remarks welcomed all participants to the training and urged them to take it seriously since it was going to enhance the way they write their reports and minutes. He also stated that, participants should feel free to ask questions and make relevant opinions and suggestions to the training for the benefit of all participants.

The District Human Resource Manager; Mr. Benjamin Kwame Livingbird took the participants through the series of trainings. He began with the training on minutes taking. Key amongst the presentation was the order of presentation of minutes writing which include the name of group or organization, date, time, name of members present, time of opening, matters arising, new business, record of all significant discussion, actions taken, any other business, time of adjournment or closure and signature of secretary.

He continued with the training on report writing. He mentioned that report writing can be adopted during formal, semi-formal and formal meetings. He also gave guidelines to effective report writing. He mentioned if report is more than 10 pages, use a separate cover page for the report. Also use a table of content for reports more than 10 pages.

He ended the training with a presentation on the Local Government System of Ghana. He highlighted on the structure of the Local Government System, the various committees of the assembly, membership of the local government service and functions of the local government service.

The District Coordinating Director; Alhaji Shamrock Abdulai Gafaru in the closing remarks expressed his gratitude to the department of Human Resources for putting together such an educative and comprehensive training for staff. He urged participants to make effective use of the training received to aid improve upon their work.
