H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Tours Denkyembour District

On Sunday, 4th October 2020, the President of the Republic of Ghana; His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo visited the Denkyembour District in the Eastern Region of Ghana. His team included the Senior Minister; Honourable Yaw Osafo Marfo, the Minister for Roads; Honourable Amoako Atta, the Eastern Regional Minister; Honourable Eric Kwakye Darfour amongst others.

The President and his entourage arrived in Akim-Wenchi, a town in the Denkyembour District, at around 2:00 pm. they were welcomed by the District Chief Executive; Honourable Seth Ofosu Birikorang and the Oseawuohene of Akim-Wenchi; Daasebre Dr. Appiah Nyarko Asumadu and other dignitaries. In Wenchi, the president inspected the ongoing construction of the Akim-Wenchi town roads. The President and team together with the District Chief Executive continued the tour to Akim-Takrowase. In Takrowase, the president cut the sod for the construction of two-Storey dormitory block and a dining hall at the Akim-Takrowase Day Senior High School. The purpose of that particular project was to convert the school into a boarding school.

The team then moved to Akwatia, the capital city of Denkyembour District where they inspected the ongoing construction of town roads in the town. The tour of the President and his entourage ended their visit with a grand durbar at the Akwatia Lorry Park.

The opening address for the ceremony was given by Nananom, represented by Daasebre Dr. Appiah Nyarko Asumadu. He welcomed the President and his team into the district. He also expressed his warm welcome to all other dignitaries that were present at the ceremony. In his address, he expressed his appreciation to the president for fulfilling most of the promises he made to the district in 2016 such as the Free Senior High School, Planting for Food and Jobs, One District One Factory, One Million Dollars for every Constituency, massive construction of school blocks among others. He however urged the government to speed up the process in constructing some major roads within the district. He promised the government Fifty (50) acres of land in Wenchi and urged the government to build a teacher training school for the district on that allocated land. The Eastern Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw; Honourable Eric Kwakye Darfour was also called upon to deliver his address. He presented some items to Nananom on behalf of the President. He also stated the purpose for the president’s tour and pleaded with the people to cast their vote for the New Patriotic Party.

The Minister for Roads and the Member of Parliament for Atiwa West; Honourable Kwasi Amoako Atta was called upon to give a short address. He stated the number of road projects being constructed in the district. Some of the roads included the 26 kilometre Kade to Wenchi town roads and Akwatia town roads. He promised to complete all asphalt overlay within Akwatia by the end of the year.

The Senior Minister for the republic, Honourable Yaw Osafo Marfo was also given the platform to give a short speech. He commended the chiefs within the district for their immense contribution towards the development of Akwatia and the nation as a whole. He also urged all the people within the constituency to remain calm and maintain peace during the upcoming elections.

The Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party for Akwatia Constituency; Yaw Ernest Kumi was also given the opportunity to address the people of Akwatia. He expressed his gratitude to all the people present for making time out of their busy schedules to support them. He also commended the government for the numerous developmental projects being initiated in the Akwatia Constituency and pleaded with the people to cast their vote for the New Patriotic Party in the upcoming elections.

Finally, the President for the republic of Ghana; His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was invited to deliver his speech to the people. He expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he received from the people of Akwatia. He also thanked everyone for supporting the vision of the government. He appealed with the people to cast their vote for his government based on the past achievements in the country. He also urged the people of Akwatia to also vote for the parliamentary candidate for the NPP for the benefit of the district. He stated that, he had more plans for the district and the only way he could continue to implement those plans is only when he is given the mandate to become the next president of the republic.
