Denkyembour District Assembly Holds Works Sub-committee Meeting

The works sub-committee of the Denkyembour District Assembly on Thursday 19th January 2023 held its first meeting for the to deliberate on issues concerning infrastructure and works within the district.

Chairman for the committee; Honorable Jones Awuku, welcomed all members and staff to the meeting and expressed his best wishes to all members for the New Year. He also commended all members for their immense work towards revenue generation and urged members to put in their best within the year. He then led the house in discussion, deliberations and adoption of the minutes of previous meeting as a working document.

There was a presentation on the status of projects within the district by the Works department. It was mentioned that most of the old projects were still at various stages of completion which members were already in the known from the previous meetings. He however mentioned that some particular attention be given to some new projects. He named those projects as 20-seater toilet facility in Akwatia, 20-seater toilet facility in Wenchi, 6-unit classroom block at Boadua, CHPS compound at Anweaso, Construction of Office Annex, and Construction of Durbar Grounds at Takrowase, Completion of Akwadum Market Stores and drilling of 10 mechanized boreholes in 10 selected communities. He added that some ancillary facilities could not be constructed with regards to the Durbar grounds in Takrowase due to funds. He then encouraged members of the committee to conduct periodic monitoring on ongoing construction of projects.

In other matters, the chairman tasked the District Information Officer to conduct a sensitization exercise within Akwatia and Boadua to invite people who have been permitted to put up temporal structures within the government reservations along the roads.

He finally expressed his appreciation to members for attending the meeting and mentioned that all suggested recommendations would be tabled to the Executive Committee.
