Denkyembour District Assembly Holds Budget Committee Meeting

On Wednesday 9th May 2023, Denkyembour District Assembly held budget committee meeting to discuss the revenue and expenditure performance for the first quarter of 2023. The Secretary for the committee; Mr Samuel Oppong Ampoma welcomed all members to the meeting. He mentioned that the Chairman for the committee had equally important engagement elsewhere to attend. He then led the committee through reading of previous minutes which was accepted as a working document for the committee.
The District Budget Analyst took the house through the first quarter performance of the assembly. Revenue items such as Rates, Lands and Concessions, Property Income, Fees, Fines, Licenses performed relatively better compared to the first quarter of last year. A total of GHC 282,158.10 had been realised out of a budgeted amount of GHC 1,141,000.00 for the year 2023.
The district also spent on expenditure items such as other allowances, materials and consumables, utilities, general cleaning, travel and transport, repairs and maintenance, training and other special services to the tune of GHC 271,834.14.
The committee discussed how to improve the collection of certain revenue items and how to reduce expenditure.
The Secretary for the committee, expressed his gratitude to all members for honouring the invitation and mentioned that all recommendations from the committee would be tabled to the Finance and Administration Sub-Committee for further consideration and approval
