Denkyembour District Assembly Holds Entity Tender Committee Meeting

On Friday 28th June 2024, the Entity Tender Committee of the Denkyembour District Assembly held a meeting at the District Conference Hall. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss and approve the second quarter update of the Procurement Plan of the Assembly.
The meeting commenced at 10:00 am with an introductory speech by the District Chief Executive; Honorable Seth Birikorang Ofosu, who welcomed all members and outlined the importance of the meeting. He emphasized the critical role of the Entity Tender Committee in ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the procurement processes of the District Assembly.
Following the opening remarks, the District Procurement Officer; Mr. Martin Sambo provided a detailed sensitization session on the functions and composition of the Entity Tender Committee. He highlighted the committee’s responsibilities as mandated by the Procurement Act, including ensuring compliance with procurement laws and regulations, reviewing and approving procurement plans and activities and overseeing the tendering process and contract awards. He also outlined the composition of the committee, which includes representatives from various sectors to ensure a balanced and comprehensive approach to procurement decisions.
The core of the meeting focused on discussing and approving the quarterly update of the District’s Procurement Plan. This update was crucial for the effective implementation of projects and initiatives outlined in the 2024 Composite Budget. The discussion included review of updates on goods, services, and works included in the plan, examination of any changes or adjustments made since the last update and ensuring alignment with budgetary allocations and priorities. Each item in the procurement plan was thoroughly reviewed. The members discussed the status of ongoing and upcoming projects, including procurement of essential goods and supplies, contracting of services for various district operations and execution of works related to infrastructure development. Specific projects were highlighted, and their progress and challenges were examined. Members provided inputs and suggestions to improve the procurement processes and ensure timely delivery of projects.
After extensive discussions, the committee unanimously approved the quarterly update of the District’s Procurement Plan. The District Chief Executive commended the members for their active participation and valuable contributions. He reiterated the importance of adhering to procurement regulations and maintaining transparency in all procurement activities.
The meeting concluded at 12:30 PM with closing remarks from the Chairperson, who expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of all members and encouraged continued diligence in their roles.
