On Tuesday, 15th July 2025, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Denkyembour District Assembly, Honorable Umar Ahmed, together with a delegation from the Assembly, embarked on a working visit to three communities—Anweaso, No. 4, and Addaekrom. The visit forms part of the Assembly’s community engagement strategy, which seeks to bring governance closer to the people, promote transparency and accountability, and foster participatory development.
The primary objective of the visit was to officially introduce the newly appointed District Chief Executive to the people and to use the occasion to interact with community members on key issues affecting their lives. It was also an opportunity to explain the policies, programs, and interventions being implemented by the Assembly and solicit the views, concerns, and expectations of the local people. This engagement aligns with the Assembly’s broader mandate of promoting good local governance and ensuring that the voices of all constituents are heard in the development planning process.
In each of the three communities, community durbars were held, attended by opinion leaders, assembly members, traditional authorities, youth representatives, and residents. Hon. Umar Ahmed, in his address, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and assured the communities of his commitment to inclusive development. He outlined key development initiatives in the areas of education, health, roads, water and sanitation, and agriculture, which the Assembly intends to pursue within his tenure. The DCE emphasized the importance of collaboration between the local government and the people to achieve meaningful and sustainable development.
During the open forum, residents raised several issues, including poor road networks, inadequate access to potable water, school infrastructure challenges, youth unemployment, and the need for support for local farmers. The DCE and his team took note of all concerns raised and assured the people of the Assembly’s readiness to prioritize their needs and work collaboratively with stakeholders to address them.
The visit ended on a positive note, with community leaders commending the Assembly for the initiative and pledging their support to the District Chief Executive. The engagement marked a renewed commitment to deepening local participation in governance and ensuring that development reaches even the most remote parts of the district.
