Denkyembour District Holds Development Planning Sub Committee Meeting

The Economic Development sub-committee meeting of the Denkyembour District Assembly, on Wednesday 2nd November 2022, held a meeting at the District Assembly Hall to deliberate on issues of Economic Development relating to the district. The main agenda was to discuss the progress report of all projects of the district as at October 2022 and also discuss the Local Economic Development (LED) action plan for 2023.
The chairman for the sub-committee, Honorable Emmanuel Effah Antwi opened the meeting by welcoming all members of the sub-committee to the meeting. He mentioned in his opening remarks that members should continue with the good works in promoting local economic development within the district. He then took members through minutes of the previous meeting which was accepted as a working document for the sub-committee after further corrections, deliberations and discussions.
The Chairman for the Local Economic Development Committee; Mr. Bortey Alabi presented the work plan and budget for the LED for 2023. He grouped the various activities of the LED under four (4) major objectives which were boosting of SMEs and Youth Employment in the District, Improving activities along the Agriculture value chain, Boosting of Social and Economic Development through tourism and District exhibition of goods and products.
The LED would undertake some key activities in the year 2023 such as sensitization and stakeholder engagement, facilitate the formation of associations, equipment and technical support to people within the district, demonstrations and material support, establishment of satellite markets and processing centers, research and development of identified tourist sites and organization of district products fair.
He mentioned that the total budget for the execution of LED activities would stand at GHC 50,000.00 for the year 2023. He then mentioned that the budget for LED had been duly presented to the Budget unit to be inputted into the 2023 Annual Composite Budget of the assembly.
The chairman, in his closing remarks, expressed his gratitude to all members and staff for attending the meeting and mentioned that all recommendations made by members would be carried on to the Executive Committee for further approval at the General Assembly.
