Denkyembour District Assembly Holds Environmental Health Sub-committee Meeting

The Environmental sub-committee of the Denkyembour District Assembly held its meeting on Wednesday 27th July 2022 at the district conference hall to deliberate on issues relating environmental health issues of the district.
The chairman for the committee; Honorable Vincent Akorli welcomed all members of the committee to the meeting. He expressed his gratitude to members for making it to the meeting upon short notice and also thanked management for considering their recommendations from the previous meetings and acting upon them.
The chairman took the house through the previous minutes where issues such as the state of public toilets, medical screening of food vendors and cleaning of market squares were major issues deliberated on as matters arising from the previous minutes. After further deliberations, the minutes were accepted by the house as a working document for the committee.
Evacuation of Kusi and Domeabra dumping sites was discussed as part of the discussions for the meeting. It was discussed that the assembly should work on the dumping site and then leave it in the care of the area council for maintenance of the site. It was suggested that they charge people within the community who use the site a fee which would be used to maintain the site afterwards. Also, the committee recommended to the assembly to facilitate the purchase of pay as you dump refuse containers for the communities. Also, it was recommended that the assembly should clear some drainages within Boadua community.
The chairman for the committee expressed his gratitude to members for making it to the meeting. He mentioned that all the recommendations would be taken to the Executive Committee.
