At the close of every academic year, basic schools across the Denkyembour District organize graduation ceremonies to celebrate and promote learners from the Kindergarten level to Basic One and also graduate learners from Basic Six to the Junior High School level. These ceremonies serve as important milestones in the academic journey of learners and are often organized with colorful activities and community involvement. As part of tradition, schools invite opinion leaders, community elders, and other influential personalities to grace the occasion. In addition to the celebrations, these events also serve as fundraising platforms to support developmental projects within the schools.
On Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Denkyembour District, Honorable Umar Ahmed, was invited to attend and participate in a number of these graduation ceremonies. He was accompanied by a team from the District Assembly and together they visited three schools—St. Anthony’s Basic School in Akwatia, CSIR-OPRI Basic School in Kusi, and UGARS Basic School in Okumaning.
At each of the schools, Hon. Umar Ahmed was warmly received by school authorities, parents, and community members. In his address, the DCE commended the management and staff of the various schools for organizing successful graduation ceremonies, which not only serve as a platform for recognizing academic achievement but also for fostering unity and development within the school communities. He took the opportunity to congratulate the graduating learners for their efforts and urged them to continue to strive for excellence in their educational journey. Hon. Umar Ahmed emphasized the importance of education as the key to unlocking future opportunities and encouraged all pupils to remain focused, disciplined, and hardworking.

He acknowledged the importance of the fundraising initiatives that were part of the ceremonies and assured the schools of the Assembly’s continuous support in enhancing educational infrastructure and improving quality education across the district.
The visits of the District Chief Executive to these graduation ceremonies highlight the Assembly’s commitment to supporting educational advancement and fostering strong community-school partnerships within the Denkyembour District.
