Ghana Statistical Service undertakes Integrated Business Establishment Survey in Denkyembour District

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) recently organized a week-long training for enumerators across the nation with the primary objective of equipping them with the necessary skills to conduct the Integrated Business Establishment Survey. This nationwide survey aims to create an updated and online business register, refine business categorizations, assess the valuation of businesses, and identify changes in business structures over time. The survey officially commenced on 15th January 2024 and is scheduled to run for a duration of 30 days.
In the Denkyembour District, 28 enumerators, 6 supervisors and 1 District Lead have been strategically allocated Enumeration Zones to carry out the survey effectively. The Denkyembour District was chosen as a crucial area for this exercise, reflecting its significance in contributing to the national economic landscape.
The Integrated Business Establishment Survey (IBES 2024) in the Denkyembour District include seeks to create of an updated Business Register. Enumerators are tasked with gathering comprehensive information to develop an up-to-date and accurate business register for the district. The survey also aims to update and refine the categorization of businesses and collect data to evaluate the financial worth of businesses operating within the district. This information is vital for economic planning and analysis. Lastly, the survey seeks to determine any shifts or alterations in the structure of businesses over time, providing insights into the evolving economic landscape of country.
Enumerators have begun work within their assigned Enumeration Zones to carry out some specific survey activities. These activities include data collection which requires enumerators to collect data on industry type, ownership structure, and financial performance of all businesses. Enumerators are also mandated to ensure accuracy, enumerators are cross-referencing collected data with existing records and conducting on-site verifications where necessary.
Enumerators must also actively engage business owners and managers to clarify any uncertainties, obtain additional information, and address concerns. Lastly enumerators must submit the collected data through the designated channels, ensuring a timely and organized flow of information to the Ghana Statistical Service.
As the Integrated Business Establishment Survey progresses in the Denkyembour District, the dedicated efforts of enumerators and the support from the Ghana Statistical Service are crucial in ensuring the success and accuracy of the data collected.
