Information Services Department Begins Sensitization on 2021 Population and Housing CensusĀ

The Population and Housing Census is the official and complete enumeration of all persons in the country. It involves collection, compilation, evaluation, analysis, publication and dissemination of demographic, social and economic statistics relating to the population.

As part of efforts to create awareness on the exercise to the public, the Information Services Department in the Denkyembour District embarked on a public sensitization exercise within the district. On Wednesday 26th May 2021, the ISD together with the District Census Officer met all heads of basic schools in the district.

The District Census Officer; Mr. Collins Agameli briefed the people on the importance of the Population and Housing Census and stated the timelines for the entire exercise. He stated that the exercise will begin with listing of structures on the 13th June 2021. On 27th June 2021, there would be census night which will be the reference point for census enumeration and all questions in the census will relate to the night. The enumeration of households and institutions would begin from 28th June 2021.

The District Information Officer; Mr. Elvis Offei-Bekoe also urged all headteachers to give the necessary courtesy to anyone who would come to the various schools to educate the pupils on the upcoming PHC. Also, fliers and jingles on the exercise would be shared to their various platforms to be circulated. He also educated them on some main importance of the exercise.

The District Education Director; Mr. Thomas More Tsorhe expressed his gratitude to the team for educating the heads of basic schools and urged his heads to receive the public education team anytime they visit their schools.
