As part of his ongoing community engagement activities, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Denkyembour District, Honorable Umar Ahmed, visited the community of Okumaning to show solidarity and assess development initiatives. During an earlier visit, the DCE and his team encountered ongoing renovation works at the Okumaning Chief’s Palace, which forms part of preparations toward the burial of the late chief of the area.
In response to the needs expressed by community members, the DCE pledged to support the renovation project as a show of respect for the traditional leadership and to contribute to the preservation of the area’s cultural heritage.
Fulfilling this promise, the DCE, together with a team from the District Assembly, paid a follow-up visit to Okumaning on Thursday, 24th July 2025, to inspect progress of the renovation works. The visit was also to ensure that the support from the Assembly is channeled effectively to benefit the community.
During the inspection, the DCE commended the local artisans and volunteers involved in the project for their dedication and sense of community spirit. He emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to supporting traditional authorities and promoting cultural values in the district.
As a concrete gesture of support, the DCE donated 50 bags of cement towards the renovation of the palace. The donation was warmly received by community elders and opinion leaders, who expressed their gratitude to the DCE and the District Assembly for their timely intervention.
The visit forms part of the DCE’s broader community engagement strategy, aimed at strengthening relationships between the Assembly and local communities, while addressing critical developmental needs across the district. The Assembly remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance cultural preservation, community development, and effective local governance.
