Denkyembour District Assembly Engages Owners Of Community Within The District

On Tuesday 27th September 2022, the Denkyembour District Assembly engaged all owners and operators of community information centers within the district. The purpose for the engagement was to have a working interaction with them towards the operations of their business and also take them through the rules and regulations of their operations. It was also to engage them towards their respective fees and licenses they are supposed to pay to the assembly.

The District Information Officer; Mr. Elvis Offei-Bekoe took all operators through the rules and regulations of operating an information center within the district. Operators of information centers were required to operate from 5 am to 7 am in the morning and also 5 pm to 7 pm in the evenings. Also, they are not to hold political shows at their respective information centers. All announcements relating to crime or crime related activity should be backed by a police extract and also all announcements on sale of drugs should be backed by certification from the Food and Drugs Authority. He then informed them that any operator who went contrary to the guidelines puts the business at risk of closure or a fine of five hundred Cedis. He lastly educated them about the various fees and licenses they were supposed to pay to the assembly. In his education, he mentioned that those with containers and wooden structures were supposed to pay for temporal structure renewal fee to the assembly. They were also supposed to register their business and given business certificates of which they were obliged to renew annually.

The Secretary for the District Information Center Association also informed the operators the need for them to come together and reinforce the dormant association in order to benefit all members. He took them through the benefits of joining an association and took views and opinions from members on how to revive their association.
