Denkyembour District Assembly Supports Persons Living with Disabilities

On Friday 23rd December 2022, the Denkyembour District Assembly supported some Persons with Disabilities within the district with some items. The purpose for the disbursement was to support some PWDs within the district to enable them start their own business and earn some income for themselves and their families.
Present at the ceremony was the Chairman for Persons with Disabilities in the Denkyembour District; Mr Daniel Osei Bonsu, the District Chief Executive for Denkyembour District; Honourable Seth Ofosu Birikorang and Heads of Departments for the Denkyembour District Assembly.
The District Chief Executive for the district; Honourable Seth Ofosu Birikorang stated in his address that distribution was done every year and this was part of the assembly’s efforts to improve the lives of persons living with disabilities. He also encouraged them to support each other and not look down on each other. He encouraged the students amongst them to study hard in school and come out with flying colours. He lastly mentioned that strict monitoring of the items distributed and monies disbursed would be carried out in order to ensure efficient use of the items.
The Chairman of Persons with Disabilities; Mr Daniel Osei Bonsu in his opening remarks encouraged all beneficiaries to use the money very effectively to gain profit from the items given. He also encouraged all persons with disabilities to join the PWD association in the district so that they can form a united front. He stated that, all the beneficiaries should still register with the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in order to benefit again from the next distribution of items.
There were distribution of chest freezers, fufu machines, containers, sewing and industrial machines and financial support to about sixty (60) persons with disabilities.
