Denkyembour District Assembly Trains Sports & Culture Sub-Committee Meeting

On Wednesday, 12th June 2024, the Sports and Culture Sub-committee held its first meeting at the District Assembly Hall.  The meeting was attended by members of the Sports and Culture Sub-Committee, the District Coordinating Director, and other heads of departments.

The meeting commenced with the election of the Chairperson. Nominations were called, and after a fair and transparent process, Honorable John Osborne Quansah was elected as the Chairperson of the Sports and Culture Sub-Committee. Following the election, the District Coordinating Director conducted the swearing-in ceremony for all members of the sub-committee. Each member took an oath to diligently perform their duties and uphold the values of the committee.

The newly elected Chairperson gave a brief speech, expressing gratitude for the trust placed in them by the members. The Chairperson highlighted the importance of sports and culture in the district and committed to leading the committee with dedication and transparency.

Mr. Senyo Adjovie, the Culture Coordinator, conducted a sensitization session on the duties of the sub-committee. He outlined the responsibilities, which include promoting cultural activities, supporting local sports initiatives, and advising the District Assembly on related matters. The session was informative, ensuring all members were clear on their roles and expectations.

The meeting proceeded with a discussion on key recommendations that the sub-committee plans to present to the Executive Committee. These recommendations aim to enhance sports and cultural activities within the district. Members provided valuable input, and several strategic initiatives were proposed, including the repair of some damaged Kete drums to improve cultural activities and also the Celebration of Culture Day in the district.

In closing, the Chairperson thanked all members for their active participation and contributions. The Chairperson emphasized the importance of teamwork and encouraged members to remain committed to the goals of the sub-committee. The meeting was adjourned with a promise of regular future meetings to track progress and implement plans effectively.

The first meeting of the Sports and Culture Sub-Committee was a success, laying a solid foundation for future activities. With a clear understanding of their roles and a commitment to their objectives, the sub-committee is well-positioned to make significant contributions to the sports and cultural landscape of the Denkyembour District.
