Denkyembour District Assembly Trains Staff on Local Government Protocols

On Monday 16th December 2024, the Denkyembour District Assembly conducted a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing staff knowledge on local governance protocols, the Whistleblowers Act, and the canons of the Local Government Service. The event, held at the District Assembly Hall, was attended by staff members across various departments. The primary objective of the training was to equip assembly staff with the requisite knowledge and tools to perform their duties effectively while adhering to established standards and ethical practices.
Mr. Cyril Mackafui Apeku, the District Human Resources Manager, led this session. He provided a comprehensive overview of local government protocols, emphasizing the importance of adhering to procedural guidelines to ensure efficiency and accountability in service delivery.
The District CHRAJ (Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice) Manager; Mr. Thomas Owusu Sekyere facilitated this session. Staff were educated on the Whistleblowers Act, highlighting its provisions, the protection it offers to whistleblowers, and the critical role it plays in promoting transparency and combating corruption within the assembly.
The District Coordinating Director (DCD) delivered an in-depth presentation on the canons of local government service. The session underscored the principles of integrity, neutrality, and professionalism required of staff to maintain the credibility and effectiveness of the assembly.
An interactive session followed the presentations, allowing staff to seek clarifications and share their perspectives on the topics discussed. Questions revolved around the practical application of the Whistleblowers Act, strategies for maintaining neutrality in politically charged environments, and the challenges of adhering to local government protocols in resource-constrained situations.
